More men than ever are leaving women to carry the burden of debt management, by taking lower paid jobs in order to avoid stress.
Research from Credit Card company, Egg shows that men are beginning to enjoy more of a social life with their friends, whilst women toil with high pressure jobs.
A spokesperson for the group commented, "There really has been a change over the last five years with some of the old stereotypes of who earns the money and who pays the bills being broken down."
