Insolvenices fall in third quarter

The number of personal insolvencies and IVAs in the UK fell in the third quarter, but many analysts have forecast that this is by no means the end of Britain's debt problems.

The end of 2006 saw a massive boom in the number of people applying for an Individual Voluntary Arrangement, with the expectation being another steep rise in 2007.

Despite the figures representing a small suprise, a leading analyst of debt problems warned, "The effects of the increase in the interest burden has not yet had a chance to affect these data nor has the impact of the credit crunch. There is plenty of worse news yet to come."
