Government debt help criticised

The government has been criticised for only offering 'poor short term solutions' to the debt problems UK consumers are currently experiencing.

The Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) say that the government's 'rent now, buy later' scheme that is being offered to first time property buyers is only papering over the cracks in the UK economy.

In a statement the group commented, "The government should be primarily concerned with the drastic lack of liquidity in the market."
