Age Concern believe that many elderly consumers will miss out on the best energy deals because they don't have access to the internet.
Research from the group has found that only 16% of pensioners use the web to compare the cheapest deals, leaving many others to struggle to find good offers and reduce debt.
With the cost of fuel increasing significantly throughout 2008, it is feared more elderly people will struggle to stay warm over the winter months, despite new government initiatives.
