Egg cuts off supply of credit card debt

Credit card provider Egg have cut off customers who have debt problems or are considered to have a 'higher than acceptable risk profile'.

However, despite some critics supporting the companies decision because they beleive it will reduce UK credit card debt, some consumers have been left baffled by the decision to cut them off.

Trevor Smith from Nottingham claims to have a clean credit record and is angered by Eggs decision to cut him off. He commented, "Fair enough if that's what they want to do, but don't send a really upsetting letter that makes it sound like we have a bad credit history all of a sudden. Good riddance... if that's how they treat people."

Industry experts say that maintaining a customer account can be costly so they're not surprised that Egg have decided to drop the worst offenders.

It's expected that the level of success that Egg achieve will dictate how many other credit card companies follow suit.

If you do have credit card debt problems then ensure you quickly seek help. The longer you leave it the worse your problems will become and the worse your credit rating will sink.
