Credit card debt not surprising

With considerably more people in the UK preferring to spend on plastic than pay by cash, it's hardly surprising that Britain has such huge credit card debt problems.

Research from Fool has found that 69% of consumers pay for the majority of their purchases using plastic. 32% of that was specifically spent on credit cards, leaving many consumers to deal with the debt later on.

Head of personal finance at Fool, David Kuo commented: "Plastic can be fantastic, but relying on money we can't see is a reflection of how easy it has been to rely on credit in recent years."
